The Canadian iGaming and sports betting company Rivalry is reaching back to move forward.
Rivalry announced in a press release this week that its new iCasino platform, Casino.exe, doesn’t just look and feel vintage, but also includes a “retro operating system” alongside an MP3 player, “custom game box art,” and desktop icons and wallpaper to complete the experience. The company launched its sports betting, iCasino, and esports betting platforms in Ontario on April 4, and has plans to expand throughout Canada and other jurisdictions.
The Casino.exe offering is designed to diversify Rivalry’s client base. While the big graphics and vintage feel are aimed a bringing in more millennials and Gen-Xers, the company says 82% of its audience is under the age of 30, and that this new suite of offerings will appeal to that demographic as well.
“Our technology and creative capabilities continue to drive meaningful opportunities across our business where we can innovate on product and ultimately reimagine the betting experience for a younger audience that craves interactive entertainment,” Rivalry CEO and co-founder Steven Salz said in the press release. “The launch of Casino.exe will allow us to further diversify our offering in a way that stays true to our brand and separates our product from others. As we scale thoughtfully into the casino segment, we’ll reduce the impact of seasonality in esports, increase customer value, and offer more stable margin profiles.”
You can play on a vintage PC
Penalty Shootout, Bomb Squad, Wheel of Time, and Courier Sweeper will debut on the new platform, which will also include Aviator and Rushlane. A mix of third-party and originally developed games, the entire suite can be played on a vintage PC.
Aviator, which launched in July 2022, accounted for 10% of Rivalry’s third-quarter revenue.
Rivalry currently operates under a license granted by the Isle of Man, and the new platform is available in jurisdictions where that license is currently valid and the company is already operating. According to the press release, Rivalry has plans to launch in Ontario in the coming months.
